Thomas was born March 1st, 2023, with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). In short, the left side of his heart did not fully form while in the womb. If not treated, he would have died within a few days or weeks.
Thomas required two open heart surgeries before he was five months old, and will need another one within a few years. After that, he will lead a mostly normal life, albeit with some restrictions (no organized sports, for example). He may need a heart transplant at some point in his life, however that is completely dependent on how his heart grows as time passes.
Thomas spent the first five months of his life in the hospital recovering from his surgeries. Those five months were extremely grueling for us, making daily trips down to Dell Children’s hospital while also juggling a 20-month-old at home and our full-time jobs. There were many days and nights full of tears and cries to God, but through it all, God was our foundation, and our faith stands strong.
Thomas is now home and is happy and healthy, however he does require six therapy sessions per week plus lots of doctor visits and other appointments. Despite great health insurance, the medical bills for his past treatments, as well as future treatments and surgeries, are a looming threat to our already tight budget. We know that God will continue to bless us and provide for us our “daily bread” as we continue to put our faith and trust in Him.

It is with deep gratitude and praise to God that I announce that we have reached our funding goal! Thank you to the 30 current donors (and all future donors) that have blessed us so completely during this time!
While we have met our stated funding goal, we don't know what costs still lie ahead of us, so we will leave this page open to continue to accept donations to help cover additional medical costs in the future.
Just to share a bit of the behind-the-scenes: The money that is donated here on Fundly is being deposited (about every two weeks) directly into a special Medical Fund bank account that we have. This means that your money doesn't get mixed with other money/accounts, it is set aside for only medical costs and expenses. This assures that these funds are only used for the purpose that they were intended for.
Again, we appreciate your many gifts. We believe that you are acting as God's hands and feet in our lives, and we are humbled and honored to be in your thoughts and prayers!

There are two ways to help with Thomas' medical bills; you can donate directly here on Fundly, or you can take part in our fundraising dinner on November 11th.
For the fundraising dinner, you can buy either a Hamburger Plate for $10 or a BBQ Plate for $20. You can pick up your meal via the Drive-Thru, or you can Dine-In and enjoy live music and bid in the silent auction! (More details of the silent auction will come soon, but I can say that the items that have been already donated are valued at over $4,000!)
